S’amuser … en français !
Une affaire de famille. A family affair.

Jean-Marc
Born in Paris where he lived for thirty years – as well as Montpellier and Toulouse – before migrating to Australia, Jean-Marc Spiler remains a true Parisian at heart but likes to call himself a Frozzie. He takes great pride in using his own experience as a learner of English in the way he approaches his teaching of French.
With a passion for languages and the development of communication skills, he first taught English as a Second Language, before specialising in his native language. Having taught at University, Adelaide Alliance Française, WEA, he currently runs small classes in Adelaide as well as online and … when he does not teach, he’s the singer in Les Flâneurs Volants, a successful Adelaide based French cover band.

Lynne
Lynne Spiler is an Adelaide girl, an ex-nurse, and the reason why Jean-Marc migrated to Australia. They lived in France for a while, where Lynne learnt to speak French the way the French do: “comme en famille”. She also developed an irrepressible love for traditional French cuisine “comme à la maison”, which she’ll put to good use for the Saturday night Grand Dîner.
Lynne has become quite famous amongst Jean-Marc’s students for her now legendary “erreurs”, grammatical and gender-based. She might even re-enact one of her best for you, just before the Saturday morning French workshop. The perfect warm-up!

Stéphane
“Monsieur Crêpes” is Jean-Marc’s brother and an ex-French Chef turned airline pilot. When he doesn’t fly, he hikes up and down mountains and.. makes crêpes! He created our Crêpe Making and Brittany’s History workshop for the inaugural Auburn Frenchfest, in 2021.
He will of course teach you how to make crêpes, but his engaging and fun talk about Brittany’s history will also delight you… With a selection of “musique bretonne” …
Et… En français, bien sûr !

Julien
Julien is JM and Lynne’s nephew and he is… gold!!! Not only is he Lynne’s most trusted and hard working helper in the kitchen, he also assists Stéphane in the running of the Crêpe workshop. Julien’s kindness and permanent bonne humeur are infectious and he also happens to have the greatest smile ever. Un trésor !
